Citizen Participation Process

Citizen Participation Process in the Warintza Project

The Citizen Participation Process (PPC) is a mechanism for dialogue, participation and consultation through which the population is informed of the possible socio-environmental impacts of a project, work or activity, with the aim of collecting the opinions and observations of the community and the population that lives in the area of direct influence of the project and incorporate in the Environmental Studies those that are technically and economically viable.

Ecuadorian law states that the Citizen Participation Process (PPC) will be carried out in a mandatory manner for the environmental regularization of all projects, works or activities.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition will start with the PPC for the Caya 21, Caya 22 and Curigem 9 concessions of the Warintza Project, as a prerequisite for obtaining the environmental license to switch to the advanced exploration phase.
